A New Years Eve Party Idea

If you're looking for a New Years Eve party idea, hopefully you'll find useful ideas and tips here on making your party memorable, enjoyable and fun.

New Year’s Eve is one of the most celebrated occasions, a time when family and friends get together to welcome in the new year.

It's also a time for reflection, as you look back on the past year and all that has taken place in your life.

It's also a time for parties, celebrating, having fun and making lots of noise.

But before all that can happen you need a new years eve party idea.

Your new years party idea doesn't have to be totally original, but it does have to be well planned. Even the best ideas can fall flat when they are not done right.

At least two weeks before year end, you must have a basic idea of what sort of party it will be.

Dressing Up for a Mystery Party

Perhaps you want to hold a mystery party where everyone comes dressed like a character they know.

You could designate each of your guests particular roles by sending them in advance the profiles of the characters they are going to play. Encourage them to act out their roles during the party.

Decorate your house with the theme of your characters and prepare a lot of kiddy games to last till midnight.

When the clock strikes midnight everyone should reveal their real faces, which for added fun could also be face painted or masked for more fun and laughter.

Possible themes for your New Years Eve party idea

1. Space flight
2. Scientific breakthroughs
3. 20th century cars
4. Wild west
5. Fashion trends
6. Scary films
7. Movie starts
8. Superheroes
9. Disney characters
10. Reality situations (Disaster victims, Extinct animals, etc.)

Once you’ve established the theme, other party considerations will come much easier. Invitations, decorations, and the new years party idea are usually in coordination with the theme of the party.

Party Decorating Ideas

No Party is Complete without Decorations

Party decorations accent the fun and excitement, plus they exercise your creativity without having to spend a fortune. When purchasing your accessories, buy in bulk or sets and make sure that the color scheme matches the party theme.

Candle and scents are also popular these days, as is fresh flowers and creative centerpieces, set décor, cutouts and banners.

Food can be finger-food-type stuff, buffet-style, serving trays or some or all of these.

Drinks can be almost anything from the traditional beer and wine to cocktails or mix-by-the-book, make your own punch etc.

For added fun you could nominate different guests to take turns to mix drinks based on ingredients shouted out by other guests and done in the style of their character, all of which can be very entertaining.

Fireworks, sparkles, party games and prizes all work well together as do draws, competitions, challenges and fun dancing activities. You could also play a resolution game – like truth or dare and try to guess which resolution belongs to which guest and why.

Balloons will also look best with colorful ribbons and could be customized to contain confetti inside. So when the clock strikes twelve, you can pop these to add noise to the celebration.

Confetti can also be sprinkled around the table areas or showered during parlor games. Alternatively pepper the entire room with colored snowflakes and stars sprinkled with glitter.

Making Lights & Noise

And since you will still have your Christmas lights, you can string them around the room and across the ceiling to give that extra party appeal. It’s as good as putting up disco lights.

You could also add some streamers and banners to give more impact to the celebration.

Of course, no new years eve party idea would be complete without noisemakers for both kids and adults. These can be anything from bells, whistles, clangers, party horns and even pots and pans struck with wooden spoons - the kids love that.

No matter what your new years party idea, after all the preparation is complete, make sure you give yourself time to enjoy it !

Happy New Year !
