Cats Stuff

My Forty Year Love of Cats and Collectables

Cats Stuff

I'm a cat lover with three cats that share our home. There's nothing remarkable about that, after all some people have far more cats. A friend of mine has thirteen cats, now to me that is remarkable.

I did not say that I own three cats since anyone who loves cats will know, cats don't like to be owned.

Cats are free spirits that let you share their world for the time they are with you.

Cats make excellent pets, more independent than many other pets, they are easy to live with.

They make few demands upon you other than food and shelter and offer in return endless hours of fun and comfort.

Unlike many other pets you don't need a lot of cats stuff to keep them happy.

A cat as a pet can also be beneficial to your health.

Tests have shown that stroking a pet is extremely therapeutic for humans and helps to lower heat rate and levels of stress, and the cats like it to.

Cats often have more than one home, which may come as a surprise to some people but it's absolutely true.

Cats will actively seek out a secondary home, as an emergency backup or just in case the primary residence does not live up to their expectations.

I suppose you could say that like humans, cats have God Parents who will look after them if something happens to their primary carers.

My friends and family know I'm a cat lover

Cats Stuff TrayMaybe it goes farther than that, since I also collect what I call cats stuff.

Over the years I have bought and been given lots of cats stuff, that's now starting to take over our home.

Some of the cats stuff is fun and tasteful and other things are not.

But, I keep all the items that I have received, since as they say, it's the thought behind the gift that counts.

My husband feels that it's about time I started to sort through all my cats stuff.

He wants me to throw away or sell some of it and display the rest.

To encourage me to part with some of my cats stuff he bought me a free standing corner curio.

The corner curio stands six feet tall, has a mirrored back and a front made from convex glass.

There are glass shelves on which to display my cats stuff and display lights inside to show everything at its best.

Cats Curio CabinetAlthough this is a big display cabinet its not big enough for all my cats stuff. So, some hard decisions had to be made about what to dispose with and what to display.

Once I had collected all my cats stuff from around the house I was surprised to see how much of it there was.

You see my cats stuff spans the past 40 years, some old but most purchased within the past 25 years.

I must admit when my husband first brought home the curio cabinet for my cats stuff, I thought that I would have enough room to expand my collection.

But, to my dismay the cats stuff I already have filled it completely.

When my husband saw that the curio was filled and there was cats stuff left over, he suggested I stopped collecting anymore. The problem is that when visitors see my cat stuff now all lovingly displayed in my cabinet they generally buy me more as gifts.

I'll have to hang a sign on the cabinet "No Vacancies" and start another collection, but not cats stuff !
